The September minutes were read and approved by Mr. DiPippa and seconded by Mrs. Crosson.

New Business:
2008-2009 Budget:
Kim Vu presented the 2008-2009 budget. It is posted on the website for review. A line-by-line review was conducted with discussions regarding adjustments and anticipated needs. Mrs. Crosson moved that the budget be accepted with changes that were made during the meeting. Mrs. Vu seconded the motion. All were in favor and the budget was approved.

  • $965.00 from the Giant Bonus Bucks program was received last school year and accounted for in last year’s budget. Another check has come in from Harris Teeter however amount was not yet posted.
  • Expense amount for Science fair was decreased to $50.00
  • 150.00 was allocated for purchase of field day ribbons
  • General request expense was increased to $2000.00.
  • Fuddruckers Fundraising event: Mrs. Suzanne Dowd presented results of the Fuddruckers fundraiser last month. A profit of $633.09 was realized. This was one of the most successful events held at Fuddruckers according to the store’s manager. The PTO thanks all for their support! The estimated income for the budget for dinner out fundraising was increased to 1500.00 for this school year.

Future Fundraising Events:

  • Chick-Fil-A in Fair Oaks Mall will offer Saint Leo’s PTO a % of proceeds from food sales (with accompanying school fundraising flyer) from 5 pm on November 10th to close of business November 12. These dates will correspond with the three days the school has short schedule for parent conferences.
  • Five Below, a retail store in Fair City Mall, is going to offer Saint Leo’s PTO 10% of all sales made with an accompanying school flyer from November 30 through close of business December 2nd.
  • Mrs. Dowd is also planning to schedule a program with Let’s Dish, which will offer a % of sales over a three-month period of time. We anticipate this will be a great opportunity for classes to get groups of moms (maybe even some dads) together for not only some great food preparation but for a really fun time to socialize!
  • Family Fun Night: This event has been rescheduled to October 25th from 6:30 to 8:30 with a change back to a Halloween theme. Game tickets and Chick-Fil-A can be pre-ordered. National Junior Honor Society volunteers will help out with running the game tables.
  • Wrapping Paper Sales: Innisbrook sales were once again very profitable for the PTO however, over the past three years total sales have decreased. Mrs. Crosson raised possibility of looking into other options such as Sally Foster.
  • Spirit Wear: The Roar Store is fully stocked and shirts are available for purchase. Order forms are available on the website under the PTO link. Spirit Wear items and additional School Pride items will be sold during Family Fun Night, October 25th. Faculty should submit orders for Spirit Wear to Mrs. Crosson by October 28.
  • Spring Auction: The Development Committee will once again be organizing the auction. It will be held April 24th at the International Country Club. Mrs. Leanna Furey will chair the Development Committee.
  • Art to Remember: Mrs. Bolster will be changing this program this year and offering metal display frames for the children’s artwork that will be on display during the Spring 2009 art show. More information on this will be upcoming. Mrs. Bolster is making excellent use of the camera equipment the PTO purchased for the art program last year. She is taking pictures of the children’s artwork and posting it on line. A motion was made by Mrs. Szkutak for 100% of proceeds from this Art fundraiser to go to the Art Program. It was seconded by Mrs. Crosson. All board members were in favor.
  • Golf Outing: Daryl Manning will be chairing this year’s event at Heritage Hunt Country Club in Gainesville. Date: Monday May 11th. Registration will begin at 10:00 am and golfing starts at 12:00. A cocktail party will be held from 4- 5 pm followed by dinner. We would like to have 120 golfers for the event. This item will still need to be added to the budget since an accurate projection could not be made at this time.

Principal’s Notes:
Mr. DiPippa is very pleased how the increase in extra-curricular activities offered this year have been received. This includes the chess, mad science, and art clubs and an 8th grade test prep class. He hopes to add a drama club next year.

Saint Vincent De Paul Pantry: We will be holding a food drive starting November 6th.

Cultural Arts:

  • The Kenya acrobats will perform on the 16th of October.
  • Flag Assembly, November 6th - This will be a Red, White, and Blue Dress Down Day. Students are asked to bring in two cans of food for the food drive if they dress down.
  • Chinese Acrobats will return December 8th.
  • Marine String Duo for K-3 on December 18th.

Open Houses: Mr. DiPippa will begin holding Open Houses next month.

During Catholic School Week we will have a special visit from the new interim superintendent during the last week in January.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday November 11, 2008 at 7:15 in the faculty lounge.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15.

Respectfully submitted,
