BOOK DONATION INFORMATION

LIBRARY SCHEDULE:                                                                            
    Grades K-5 have library on the following days:
            L - Hesse, Elachkar, Baker
            I - Byczek, LaBarge, Cain
            O - Powers, Capen, Reed
            N - Merrill, Ball, Kelly
    
    Sixth and seventh grade students have library daily for one quarter.  
   
Seventh graders choose between a variety of Art, Music and Library electives.
           Seventh grade elective schedule:
                    1st quarter: Mysteries
                    2nd quarter: Heroes
                    3rd quarter: Survival
                    4th quarter: TV News

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS PROGRAM
5th and 6th graders have the opportunity to participate in a Diocesan-wide Battle of the Books competition, held each spring. Fifteen books are read and discussed through the school year (during lunch one day a week), in preparation for the competition.

GRADING:
The report card we are piloting this year contains two grades (beginning with 3rd grade):Effort and Progress.  
Each quarter, the Progress Grade will be based on the level of the student's understanding/knowledge of curriculum presented during the quarter.

FIRST QUARTER:
3rd grade -- Review of Library Rules and Procedures; Introduction to the Library Catalog; Usage of the "Call Number" and Dictionary Skills
4th grade --  Review of Library Rules, Procedures, and the Library Catalog and Call Numbers; Biographies
5th grade -- Review of Library Rules, Procedures, and the Library Catalog; Review of the Dewey Decimal System and Alpabetical Order of Fiction Books; Comparing Information found in different types of Non-Fiction Books
